Energy sector: rethink how to manage and harness the data flows both securely and on a large scale
CHALLENGES
Our customer is a major French group in the energy sector. As part of the deployment of smart meters (IoT), the company had to rethink how it managed and harnessed its data flows.
It was therefore important to design a new network operation method with partners who can now be both energy consumers and producers. A new generation data platform also needed to be implemented, which could support these operational challenges in real time, where a number of players are involved. Data security was of course a strong requirement.
SOLUTIONS - RESULTS
In order to define the most appropriate system, Talan Data experts devised an approach in which the issue at stake could be addressed from the main perspectives:
- use cases,
- regulatory requirements,
- security,
- hybrid cloud infrastructure,
- development agility,
- target operating model.
The data platform was rolled out quickly (within 12 months) where it proved its value on its first use cases. System maintenance turned out to be minimal.
With this robustness and flexibility, a number of business functions were able to develop new projects with increased operational efficiency, particularly in terms of network management.
