Talan Americas provide interns with a simulating work environment, conducive to learning and professional development. On the first day of their arrival, interns are engaged with projects and opportunities that will allow them to develop their skills and advance their career. Below, the testimony of Kumar Sambhav who joined the New York office a few weeks ago…

Could you introduce your career path?

I am a Project Manager Intern at Talan Americas and have recently joined the New York Office Team. I am also an MBA (Information Systems) graduate student at Lubin School of Business, Pace University, New York.

Prior to Talan, I worked in Indian Steel Industry (2nd largest in world) for 7+ years, looking after Business operations and management. This role offered me various leadership positions as a project manager, among which a major SAP (ERP) migration project as well as several change management initiatives. It was here, where I developed a deep interest in latest trending IT solutions and technologies, though I did my undergrad in Mechanical Engineering.

In January 2022, in the continuation of my studies, and as part of the internship program, I joined Talan New York office to work on various challenging and exciting project initiatives.

What are the different projects/initiatives you are currently working on?

Currently I am working on a project for an international corporate & investment bank, to drive innovation and change management across their organization in North America. Among the various levers that have been identified to date to accelerate their digital transformation, artificial intelligence is playing a major role within their innovation journey.

It is within this context, that I had the opportunity to be involved in the promotion of the AI powered solutions offered by Talan to solve its clients’ optimization challenges:

  • Translate Bot: translates your documents instantly while keeping their original formatting
  • Reg Review: automates and customizes your regulatory watch
  • Doc Review: automatically identifies, extracts and structures key information contained in your documents
  • Smart Data Quality: makes your data quality treatments easier and more efficient
  • Deep Review: automates the centralization of customer feedback, performs some deep analysis, and make the comparison with your competitors.

I am also working closely with the “Change & Optimization” practice leader in the business development strategy of the business consulting practice, to help on the following tasks/activities:

  • Draft marketing materials for client meetings
  • Produce client use cases to evidence Talan’s track record on similar client projects
  • Identify new prospects eligible to our consulting offer
  • Draft the social media communication strategy to increase Talan Americas’ visibility and presence on LinkedIn
  • Build-up brand-new partnerships with US top universities to expand Talan Americas’ fame & notoriety towards local students, while diversifying our recruitment channels and sourcing talents fresh out from schools.

At Talan, what is your playfield? How do you manage to explore it?

With my previous experience in Business operations, where I used to solve day-to-day problems and derive business solutions. Operations has become my play field, whose dynamicity drives me to explore more out of myself. That’s how I got hooked to latest Data, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning tools and solutions, and now I am right in mid of the moment, when I am working on my client project and helping them drive and manage the Change.

Could you describe a strong memory since you have joined Talan?

Well, it’s not just a single anecdote or instance. I watch and observe it daily in every meeting and presentations, when every French speaking colleagues, team members and seniors change their medium of communication, just for me. They try their best to communicate in every possible way and ensure that I never miss out on anything. That’s the sweetest part of all.

Which person inspires you the most?

Dr A P J Abdul Kalam was an Indian aerospace scientist who served as the 11th president of India. He was the main brain behind the success story of Indian space program and is popularly known as “Missile Man of India”. He truly epitomized the phrase “Sky is the Limit”. So, this makes him my inspiration.
